Certified Flight Instructor

Educational Objective: 
This program is designed for the student who has a Commercial Pilot Certificate with Rotorcraft Rating and wishes to obtain a Flight Instructor Certificate. A Flight Instructor Certificate allows a pilot to give flight instruction and endorse the logbook of others. This program is highly recommended to maximize employment opportunities; most often a pilot’s first job is as a flight instructor.
Admission Requirements: 
A student must be 17 years of age and be able to read, speak, write and understand English. Before solo flight, the student must hold a valid third-class medical certificate from a Federal Aviation Administration approved physician. The student must be at least 18 years of age prior to the practical test.
Length of Program: 
This program runs approximately three weeks.
Program Content: 
Robinson R-22: 20Hours Total Ground Instruction: 10Hours Total
Subject Areas: 

Ground Instruction               10 Hours

10h CFI: Fundamentals of instruction, learning process, teaching process, student evaluation and testing, course development, lesson planning and classroom, training techniques, review technical subject areas, FAA regulations.

 

Flight Instruction                  20 Hours

20h CFI: Familiarize flying in the instructor's seat, review all flight maneuvers, advanced emergency maneuvers.

Additional Notes: 
  • Program cost estimated, based on a minimum amount of hours required for this rating by the FAA. Block rates give a 5$/h discount for flight instruction. 
  • The $350.00 flight test fee is not paid from funds deposited with Alyeska Helicopters.  Therefore, funds in reserve for the flight test should not be deposited with Alyeska Helicopters.
